CHICAGO — An Evergreen Park man is charged with murder after police said he shot a South Side man during the Fourth of July weekend.

Richard Magnan was charged with first-degree murder after he fatally shot Joel Dentley about 1 a.m. Saturday in a Walgreens parking lot near 63rd Street and Austin Avenue in Clearing, police said.

Dentley was struck in his stomach and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.

Dentley, of the 5000 block of South Keating Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:46 a.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
