CHICAGO — A man was shot in his eye while waiting in line outside a Lakeview bar early Sunday.

The 26-year-old man was standing outside in the 3600 block of North Ashland Avenue when someone across the street started shooting about 3:30 a.m., said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

The victim was struck in his eye and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized, Gaines said.

No one was in custody.
