LAKEVIEW — A new set of developers for the long-empty former Dominick's site in Lakeview will present a plan for a new grocery store on Broadway Monday night, and representatives from Mariano's will be on hand to talk, too.

Though no documents are signed, Mariano's has long been interested in the opening on the site and continues to be, said Bennett Lawson, Ald. Tom Tunney's (44th) chief of staff.

Officials from the chain have not commented on the Broadway site.

An updated agenda from South East Lake View Neighbors sent out Monday morning showed that developers will be showing initial plans for a new building at 3030 N. Broadway, a lot that's had years of false starts since a 2005 fire.

Representatives from Mariano's grocery store also be available to answer questions, a source said.

The neighborhood group's agenda listed the new development's presenters as Urban Broadway Mezz, LLC, a company affiliated with previous attempts at building on the site. It had relations with developer Allison Davis and Robert Vanecko, nephew of Mayor Richard Daley.

But Lawson said Monday night's presenters are a "different cast of characters" and investors. He did not know which corporate name they want to use now.

"It's a new group and a new development," he said. "It's not a continuation of before."

The latest iteration of the building is commercial only, Lawson said.

The meeting will be on Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Second Unitarian Church, 656 W. Barry Ave.
