CHICAGO — Two men were injured in what police believe was a gang-related incident in Lakeview Sunday morning.

Shortly before 4 a.m., two groups of people began fighting in the 1000 block of West Belmont Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

During the fight, a man was slashed in the face by a male assailant. The assailant then got in a car with other people and backed up, running over another man with whom he'd also been fighting, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody, police said. The man struck by the vehicle was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital; police had no information on his condition. The man slashed in the face refused medical attention, Sedevic said.
