CHICAGO — Two men were shot in the head early Monday morning after leaving a West Side bar, authorities said.

Eulises Grandos, 22, and another man left a bar after getting into a verbal altercation near the 1300 block of West Cermak Road, but a shooter in an SUV was waiting for them at about 2:49 a.m., officials said.

While waiting at a stop light in their vehicle, Grandos and a 21-year-old man in the car with him were both shot in the head, police said.

The men drove off after the attack but struck a tree, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman. Grandos was later taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition were he pronounced dead. The unidentified 21-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

No one is currently in custody following the shooting, police said.
