LAKEVIEW — Both coffee and beer nerds can unite this week — local favorites DryHop and Intelligentsia have teamed up to create a coffee stout beer.

On Wednesday, neighbors DryHop Brewers, 3155 N. Broadway, and Intelligentsia, 3123 N. Broadway, will debut "My Mirrors Are Black," a Cuban coffee stout beer made with Intelligentsia's Yirgacheffe Ethiopia coffee blend.

Yirgacheffe Ethiopia coffee has a lemon blossom and pomegranate taste with a touch of honey, according to Intelligentsia. "My Mirrors Are Black" is 5.5 percent alcohol by volume and also includes guava, blueberry and candi sugar, DryHop said in a release.

To get a taste of both the coffee and the beer, DryHop will be hosting an event with Intelligentsia at the bar from 6 p.m.-2 a.m.

Intelligentsia will set up a coffee bar until 10 p.m., where attendees will be able to compare the taste of Yirgacheffe Ethiopia when served three different ways — V60, Chemex and Cafe Solo. The coffee will be free, DryHop spokeswoman Eileen Garrity said.

Beer lovers will also be able to compare the DryHop coffee beer to other coffee beers. DryHop will offer flights of coffee beer, including the Mirrors, Allagash Coffee Curieux, Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout, Founder's Breakfast Stout and Left Hand Week Sauce Coffee Porter.

The cost of the flight is to be determined, and they will be served all night.

If you can't make the brewery Wednesday night, "My Mirrors Are Black" will still be offered at DryHop for about two weeks after the event, Garrity said.
