CHICAGO — Police have released three images of a man they said attacked a woman at a West Side bus stop before beating and sexually assaulting her early Monday.

A man attacked the victim at a bus stop in the 1000 block of North Western Avenue near the border of Humboldt Park and Ukrainian Village, police said in a community alert.

The assailant then dragged her into a nearby gangway where he beat and sexually assaulted her, according to the alert. Police did not give the victim's age.

Some residents had signs posted on their doors that said the attack happened about 5 a.m., and that the attacker fled with the victim's purse.

Cops described the attacker as between 19 and 26 years old, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10, 160-180 pounds with a dark brown complexion and clean shaven face. At the time of the assault, he was wearing diamond stud earrings in both ears, a green T-shirt, green shorts, black shoes and black doo-rag.

Police asked anyone with information to call detectives at 312-747-8380.
