Emily joined DNAinfo.com Chicago after working as an intern reporting business stories for the Chicago Sun-Times.

She studied at the Missouri School of Journalism. Her first foray into reporting while in college was at the Midwest Innocence Project, where she worked as a volunteer to investigate innocent conviction cases.

While studying abroad in the U.K. in 2011, she worked as an intern writing for the magazine of the London Chamber of Commerce.

Fun Fact: While on her study abroad trip to London, if Emily wore a specific blue scarf and sampled a cupcake, she was almost sure to meet a celebrity. This led to her becoming weak in the knees in the presence of Colin Firth and Rupert Grint, among others.
