LOGAN SQUARE — Dante's Pizzeria, makers of the New York-style pizza Logan Square diners have come to know and love, will soon be expanding to the northern edge of the neighborhood, one of the owners said.

Co-owner Aaron Butts said they'd been talking about expanding the kitchen, then opted instead to open a second location at the corner of Kimball, Diversey and Milwaukee avenues.

Since opening at 3028 W. Armitage Ave. in September 2011, Dante's has garnered a loyal following of pizza lovers.

Its genesis began at Santullo's in Wicker Park, where co-owner Tim Murphy worked for years, but Dante's took it to the next level with pies topped with things like Italian beef, salami and giardiniera, and a daily special that combines a handful of them in some interesting fashion.

The pies are all named for creatures from Greek mythology, and on special occasions may even be topped off with a Sriracha pentagram.

The menu — which also includes hot and cold sandwiches, stromboli, salads and desserts — will stay largely the same at the new location, Butts said, though there may be a few surprises.

"I've got some ideas for new sandwiches," he said.

An exact date has not been set for a new Dante's opening, but Butts said it will be sometime in the "next few months."
