LAKEVIEW — Do people say you look like a dog? Bring your pet to Mayfest this weekend and find out.

Lakeview's first summer festival of the year, Mayfest, kicks off Friday night, and Sunday's pet-centric day includes contests for best trick, best costume — and an owner/pet look-a-like contest.

The 12th annual Chicago Pet Pageant and Expo, hosted by Higgins Animal Clinic, starts at 11 a.m. and lasts till 2 p.m. at the festival, located at 3100 N. Ashland Ave. Pet owners can also enter drawings for free vet services and pick up goodies at pet vendors as part of the event.

The event run by StarEvents starts Friday at 5 p.m. with a DJ party, and '80s songs cover band 16 Candles kicks off live performances at 7 p.m. Hip-hop tribute group Too White Crew headlines Saturday night, and Talking Heads tribute band This Must Be the Band performs Sunday night. Check out the full music schedule here.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be dedicated to the kids and their health. Mayfest will offer arts and crafts, health food, kids zumba and kiddie bootcamp for the "Chicago Kids Day."

Admission to Mayfest costs $10, and the proceeds go toward the Lakeview YMCA and Neighborhood Parent Network.
