Woman killed by Semi in West Loop was from Pennsylvania

CHICAGO — A woman who died after being struck by a truck in the West Loop Monday morning has been identified as Catherine Cong Ye, a 24-year-old woman from State College, Pa.

Cong Ye, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was crossing Randolph Street near Halsted Street about 8:35 a.m. when she was struck by the truck, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman. She died at the scene about 8:48 a.m.

The truck had just exited the Kennedy Expy. and turned onto Randolph when it hit her, police said.
