Man Dies After Being Struck by Car on Goose Island

CHICAGO — A man died after being hit by a car on Goose Island Thursday morning, authorities said.

A Hyundai Sonata struck the man as he was crossing the street in the 1000 block of West Division Street about 4:15 a.m., police said.

Cops said the driver drove away west on Division Street. Police said the car is either a 2012 or 2013 Sonata, and is blue or black.

The 40-year-old man was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead authorities said.

The man was later identified as Billy Taylor, 40, of Hazel Crest.

Police diverted traffic from Division Street for about two hours after the incident, and the CTA rerouted its No. 70 buses.
