The CTA is aiming to debut the renovated station in late 2018.

The project will include new canopies, a reconfigured bus terminal, repainted walls and more benches.

The stations are the latest slated for public art projects, CTA announced Wednesday.

The project ushered in refurbished platforms, new lights and added security cameras at five stations.

Several shops are giving out free food and coffee to celebrate the reopening.

PHOTOS: "We are keeping what we can and modernizing everything else," CTA official said of the landmark.

The CTA Damen "L" station in Wicker Park will be closed for 63 days and reopen on Dec. 22.

The station has been temporarily closed since Sept. 2 as part of renovations.

Damen, the fourth busiest station on the O'Hare Blue Line route, is not scheduled to get an elevator.

Service between the Damen and Logan Square stations will stop from 10 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Monday.
