Despite widely circulated rumors on social media, police say the notice was "not credible."

Tyshawn's classmate and basketball partner said he would place a ball by the boy's casket: "Bye friend."

The Rev. Michael Pfleger called Tyshawn's death "a new moral low for Chicago."

The boy's dad apparently was selling memorial T-shirts online for up to $45 each. 

Karla Lee said she needed the car to protect herself and keep from becoming "a target."

"In almost 30 years ... I've never seen anything like this," a deputy police chief said.

A "person of interest" police spoke to Wednesday had reportedly been released as of Thursday morning.
