Sam Cholke is a reporter/producer for DNAinfo.com Chicago covering Bronzeville, Hyde Park, Kenwood and South Shore.

A native of Rockford, Ill., Sam previously worked at the Hyde Park Herald Newspapers covering the University of Chicago and ward politics for five years. In 2011, he spent nine months researching and reporting on trauma care for victims of gunshot wounds on Chicago’s South Side through a grant from the Community Media Workshop and the McCormick Foundation.

After graduating from Northern Illinois University in 2004, Sam worked at the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb, Ill., as technical editor for three years coordinating the daily newspaper’s nation, world and health coverage.

Fun Fact: Even I'm not entirely sure how to pronounce my last name.
