The slain man was shot in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue, police said.
This weekend will be cooler, though, with temperatures in the 60s and low 70s.
The officer was reassigned from Hubbard High School and fired from his off-duty job at Catalyst Maria.
The shooting happened in the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street.
Officials were investigating the powder.
