CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man died after being shot in Austin on Saturday, police said.
At 12:07 a.m., the man was walking through an alley in the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street when someone in a maroon van drove up and fired shots at him, police said.
The man was hit in his groin and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Darius Edwards, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 11:01 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his torso in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
