EDGEBROOK — The Walsh family is giving Logan Square's "Stranger Things" pop-up bar a run for its money.

The Wildwood home is guarded by straw likenesses of Joyce, Barb and Eleven, with a life-sized model of Fort Byers under construction.

"We do scarecrows every year, so we just decided to do something different with them this time," Teresa Walsh said.

The Walshes are one of 21 families who entered their homes into the Edgebrook Community Association's annual Spookiest House contest, which will send judges across the neighborhood this weekend to evaluate decorations ranging from cute to creepy.

Judges will announce winners Wednesday across at least a half-dozen categories, including "tech-savvy," "youth entry" and "classic," organizer Lidia Pomaville said.

The top prizes are being kept under wraps, but all last year's winners were awarded "personalized skull sculpture dishes," Pomaville said.
