CHICAGO — A 4-day-old infant was killed by a shooting in a homicide, according to new autopsy results.

The baby, Jenae Lemon, is the youngest homicide victim in Chicago this year.

At 7:39 a.m. Friday, 20-year-old Charnella Lemon and 33-year-old Terrence Carter were sitting in a parked car in the 400 block of West 102nd Place when someone walked up to them and fired shots, officials said.

Lemon and Carter were pronounced dead that day. Lemon was pregnant, and medical staff were able to deliver the infant, a girl who was named Jenae Lemon. Jenae was in critical condition after the procedure, the Tribune reported.

Jenae died at 2:28 p.m. Monday, and on Wednesday afternoon the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a homicide.

An autopsy showed Jenae died from a gunshot wound in her torso from a gunshot wound in her mother's abdomen.

No one was in custody.
