NEAR WEST SIDE — A robber pushed his victims to the ground in the Illinois Medical District in two incidents only minutes apart Sunday.

The first attack was at 6:50 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of South Wood Street. The second was at 7:08 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Harrison Street.

In both incidents, the man knocked people to the ground and demanded property from them.

Police describe the robber as a black man with short, black hair who wore a white T-shirt and jeans. He is 20-25 years old, 150 pounds and between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11, police said.

Police advised people to remain calm if confronted by an assailant and try to remember any unique physical characteristics like scars or tattoos. Victims should never pursue a fleeing robber and should call 911 immediately.
