Shootings Kill 1 Person, Wound 14 Since Wednesdsay

CHICAGO — Shootings have killed one person and wounded 14 others, including a 14-year-old girl, since Wednesday, police said.

• At 8:09 p.m. Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was gunned down in South Deering. Another man, 18, was seriously wounded in the shooting.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 12:52 a.m. Thursday, a 23-year-old man was shot during an argument in Portage Park.

• At 12:49 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Brainerd, police said. The man was standing outside in the 9100 block of South Ada Street when two people fired shots at him.

The man was hit in his knee and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, police said.

• At 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, a 46-year-old woman was shot in West Humboldt Park.

• At 7:47 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot in Calumet Heights, police said. The teen was standing in the street in the 8900 block of South Phillips Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The teen was hit in his leg, groin and side. He was hospitalized, and his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The shooting was possibly gang-related, a police source said.

• At 7 p.m., a 14-year-old girl was shot while standing at a bus stop in Calumet Heights.

• At 6:49 p.m., a 50-year-old man and 17-year-old were shot in Austin, police said. The two were walking in the 4800 block of West Washington Boulevard when they heard shots and realized they'd been hit.

The man was hit in his left thigh and right leg and the teen was hit in his right hand and a bullet grazed his chest. They were taken to Stroger Hospital and were in good condition, police said.

• At 6:30 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in Washington Heights, police said. The man was a passenger in a parked car in the 1200 block of West 96th Street when someone walked up and fired shots.

The man was hit four times in his chest and once in his shoulder. His friends drove him to Little Company of Mary Hospital in critical condition and he was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.

• At 6:15 p.m., a 51-year-old man was shot in Brainerd, police said. The man was walking in the 9300 block of South Justine Street when three people ran up, said they were robbing the man and took his wallet.

One of the robbers fired a shot at the man, hitting him in his upper left shoulder. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

• At 5:04 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was standing in the first block of North Lorel Avenue when someone walked up to him and fired shots.

The man was hit in his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 1:11 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was in the 6600 block of South Halsted Street when he was shot in his left thigh.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

Another man who was standing nearby was injured by broken glass and was hospitalized in good condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 12:24 p.m., a 23-year-old woman and 22-year-old man were shot in Austin, police said. The two were sitting outside in the 5200 block of West Adams Street when someone walked up to them and fired shots.

The woman was hit in her foot and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and the man was hit in his leg and taken to Loretto Hospital. They were treated and released, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
