Weekend Shootings Kill 3 People, Wound 30 Others

CHICAGO — Shootings left three people dead and 30 wounded over the weekend.

Of those victims, one person has been killed and eight wounded in shootings since Sunday morning.

• At 9:31 a.m. Sunday, a 34-year-old man was shot to death in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 2:43 a.m. Monday, a 36-year-old man was shot in Washington Heights, police said. The man was in the 10100 block of South Wallace Street when he got into an argument with another person, and the other person took out a gun and fired shots.

The man was hit in his right leg and he was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. His condition was not immediately available.

A suspect was in custody, police said.

• At 11:33 p.m. Sunday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in Humboldt Park, police said. The boy was walking on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of North Central Park Avenue when four people walked up to him and fired shots.

The boy was hit in his right shoulder and he took himself to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

The shooting was possibly gang-related, a police source said.

• At 5:49 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Garfield Park, police said. The man was sitting on a porch in the 3500 block of West Jackson Boulevard when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his left leg and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

• At 5:42 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was in the 5500 block of West North Avenue when he was shot in his arm.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

The man was uncooperative, a police source said, and no further information was immediately available.

• At 3:45 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was shot in Englewood, police said. The woman was in the 5900 block of South Union Avenue when she was shot in her stomach.

No further information was immediately available.

• At 3:28 p.m., a 48-year-old man was shot in Heart of Chicago.

• At 10:37 a.m., a 37-year-old man was shot in South Chicago, police said. The man was in the 7900 block of South Coles Avenue when he was shot in his head.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• Also, at 2:40 a.m., a man or boy was shot in Englewood, police said. The victim was in the 5900 block of South Sangamon Avenue when he was shot in his head, chest and leg.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

One person was killed and 14 wounded in shootings between Saturday and Sunday, and shootings left one person dead and 18 wounded between Saturday and Friday.
