Chicago Shootings Kill 1, Wound 18 Others Since Friday Morning

CHICAGO — Nineteen people were shot, one fatally, in incidents across Chicago since Friday morning.

A man was fatally shot in a car in Hegewisch Friday night.

In nonfatal shootings:

• At about 4:33 a.m. Saturday in Chatham, a man broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and shot her new companion. Officers shot at him before arresting him, police said. 

• At about 3:46 a.m. in Little Village, a 47-year-old man was shot in the 2500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police said. He was standing outside when someone in an approaching vehicle shot at him.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition after being shot in his knee, police said. 

• At about 3:42 a.m. in Little Village, a 22-year-old man was shot in the 3000 block of West 25th Street, police said. He was standing outside when a black Chevrolet Tahoe approached and someone inside shot him.

The man was shot in a leg and both feet, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. 

• At about 3:35 a.m. in Auburn Gresham, two men were shot in the 7600 South Halsted Street when someone approached them, police said. 

A 29-year-old man was grazed in the elbow and treated at the scene.

A 23-year-old man was grazed in his shoulder and treated at the scene.

• At about 3:15 a.m. in Englewood, an unknown man was shot in his chest and leg in the 5900 block of South Sangamon Street, police said. Officers responded to a call and found him lying in the street. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

• At about 1:30 a.m. in Garfield Park, two men were shot while standing outside in the 3900 block of West Jackson Boulevard, police said. 

Both men, 21 and 20, were shot in a leg and taken to Stroger and Mount Sinai respectively.

• At about 12:30 a.m. in Noble Square, a 25-year-old man was shot while on a porch.

• At about 12:22 a.m. Chicago Lawn, a 25-year-old man was shot in his arm while standing outside in the 2400 block of West 72nd Street, police said. 

He was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition, police said. 

• At about 12:07 a.m. in Austin, a 28-year-old man was shot in an alley in the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street. Someone shot at him from a maroon van, police said. 

He was taken to Mount Sinai hospital in serious condition after being shot in his groin.

• At about 11:20 p.m. Friday in Chicago Lawn, a 42-year-old man was shot while in an alley in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue. Someone shot at him from a black Impala, police said. 

He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital after being shot in his arm.

• At about 7:37 p.m. in Englewood, three people were shot during an argument in the 7200 block of South Green Street, police said. 

A 16-year-old boy on a bike got into an argument with someone who shot him in his upper right thigh. The boy was taken to Stroger. 

As someone was helping the boy, a 23-year-old man was shot in his right knee and another man was grazed in the back, police said. The 23-year-old man was taken to Christ Hospital.

The shooting might have been gang-related, a police source said.

• At about 11:30 a.m. in Chicago Lawn, a 19-year-old man was shot while standing outside in the 6800 block of South Talman Avenue, police said. 

The injured man walked into Holy Cross in good condition after being shot in his right forearm and right thigh.

• At about 10:54 a.m. in Woodlawn, two people were shot while on the sidewalk in the 6400 block of South King Drive., police said

A 26-year-old man was shot in his abdomen. A 26-year-old woman was shot in her left ear. Both were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said. 

Unless noted, no one is in custody in any of the incidents.
