CHICAGO — A 40-year-old man was shot to death on the Near West Side early Wednesday, police said.
At 12:03 a.m., the man was with a group of people in the 2300 block of West Madison Street when two people walked up to them and fired shots, police said.
The man was hit multiple times throughout his body and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Jawon Jermaine Garrett, of the 500 block of North Sawyer, was pronounced dead at 12:41 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
