1 Killed, 7 Wounded In Chicago Shootings Since Friday Morning

CHICAGO — One person is dead and seven wounded in shootings across the city since Friday morning.

A man was shot dead in Back of the Yards around 2:18 a.m. Saturday.

In nonfatal shootings:

• In Pilsen around 3:31 a.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot in his thumb while walking down the 2200 block of West 21st Street. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

• In South Chicago around 2:01 a.m.,  a 41-year-old woman was shot in her shoulder while sitting outside. She was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition.

• In West Humboldt Park around 9 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was shot in an alley in a drive-by in the 1200 block of North Avers Avenue. He was shot in his buttocks by someone from a dark-colored sedan and is listed as critical at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Poiice say the incident may have been gang-related.

• In Auburn Gresham around 7:45 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his abdomen while in the 8800 block of South Eggleston Avenue. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

An argument on the Green Line ended in a 30-year-old man getting shot. Police have arrested two people.

• In West Englewood around 4:34 p.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in his buttocks while in the 6400 block of South Honore Street.

The man, who police believe wasn't the intended target, was outside when someone in a car fired at a group walking. The man took himself to Holy Cross Hospital where he is in good condition.

• In Austin around 1:25 p.m., a 36-year-old man was shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of West Augusta Boulevard.

A white van pulled alongside and someone inside shot him in his left leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

No one is in custody for any of the incidents, except the Green Line shooting.
