BUCKTOWN — An authentic tea bar serving loose leaf tea from China, Taiwan and Japan, as well as iced matcha, has opened just north of The 606's elevated Bloomingdale Trail in Bucktown.

Xuan Tea features 19 seats at a long bar, as well as tables in the back and free WiFi for those who want to get work done.

The menu is not posted online yet but will be available soon, according to Xuan Tea's owner Keqi Meng, who said the past week has been a soft opening phase.

Food, such as tea eggs — flavorful hard boiled eggs boiled in hot tea and "tea porridge," which Meng said is rice infused with tea water — will be added in the future.

Xuan Tea brews a wide variety of teas — green, white, yellow, oolong — starting at $4 a cup.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, 1816 N. Milwaukee Ave. For more info, visit Xuan Tea's website, or follow the tea bar on Facebook or Twitter.
