Shootings Kill 2 People, Wound 12 Since Sunday

CHICAGO — Shootings have killed two people and wounded 12 others since Sunday morning, police said.

In all, four people have been fatally shot and another 33 wounded since the start of Labor Day weekend.

• At 10:40 p.m. Sunday, two men were shot and one of them died in Belmont Cragin. The two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 5900 block of West Belden Avenue when an unknown man approached on foot and fired multiple shots.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the torso and died at the scene, and a 29-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

• At 8:40 p.m. Sunday, a man was found fatally shot in Washington Heights. He was found in the 800 block of West 102nd Street on the driver's side of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest and taken to Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 4:30 a.m. Monday, a 39-year-old man was shot in Bucktown. The victim met a man who accompanied him to a residence in the 1800 block of West Armitage Avenue where a disturbance ensued and the victim was shot in the right leg, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 4:15 a.m. Monday, a 26-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park. The man said he was standing on the sidewalk in the 3300 block of West Walnut Street when he heard gunshots and was struck in the left shoulder. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and his condition was not available, but police listed him as "stable."

• At midnight Monday, a 27-year-old man was shot in Woodlawn. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when shots were fired from a passing vehicle and struck him in the left arm.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, and his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 11:55 p.m. Sunday, three people were shot in Little Village. The victims were gathered in the 2400 block of South Harding Avenue when a gray vehicle stopped at the intersection and fired multiple rounds at them.

A 17-year-old woman was shot in the foot, as was a 31-year-old man. A 46-year-old man was shot in the left leg. All three were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Their conditions were not available but police listed them as "stable."

• At 7:55 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg in Back of the Yards. He was shot in the 1800 block of West 44th Street, but the circumstances are unknown and the victim is not cooperating with investigating officers, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, and his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 6:53 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was shot in Woodlawn. The man was standing in an alley in the 6400 block of South Ingleside Avenue when he heard gunshots and began running before realizing he was shot in the arm. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.

• At 5:15 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was shot in Humboldt Park. He was sitting in a vehicle when a man walked up and shot him in the back in the 4300 block of West North Avenue. The victim took himself to Norwegian Hospital and was later transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

• At 1:52 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg and a bullet grazed a 18-year-old woman's abdomen in Austin.

The man was walking out of a store in the 4800 block of West Chicago Avenue when a dark-colored, four-door car pulled up and began firing shots. The 25-year-old was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and was listed as "stable," police said.

The woman was not an intended target and was passing by when she was hit, police said. She was taken to West Suburban Hospital and is in good condition.

No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
