CHICAGO — A 26-year-old man died and another man was wounded in a Sunday night shooting in Belmont Cragin, police said.

The two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 5900 block of West Belden Avenue at 10:40 p.m. when a  man approached on foot and fired shots, police said.

The 26-year-old was shot in his torso, police said.

The man was identified as Felipse Batista Jr., of the 2300 block of North Mason, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Batista was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m.

A 29-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody, and detectives are investigating.

In all, four people have been fatally shot and another 33 wounded since the start of Labor Day weekend.
