PORTAGE PARK — The boutique makeup and eyebrow salon The Beauty Crew cut the ribbon on its new shop in the Six Corners Shopping District on Friday, its owner said.

Lisa Pizzello had spent three years operating her salon at 4268 W. Irving Park Road, but as her clientele expanded she sought a space that was "a little newer and more modern," she said. Her new shop, 4048 N. Milwaukee Ave., sits in the shadow of the Portage Theater's marquis.

Measuring around 800 square feet with three client stations, the space's gold-trimmed walls and black leather seats match the theater's art deco interior design.

The space was designed to match the next-door Portage Theater's art deco style, Pizzello said. [Lisa Pizzello]

Pizzello and her team do some hair styling and airbrushing, but their specialty is eyebrow micro-blading, a light kind of tattoo the owner described as "permanent makeup."

"It adds these super small micro strokes that look like hair, for anyone who has trouble growing them," Pizzello said. "It's a very natural approach that lasts up to two years, so you don't have to worry when you go swimming or go in the shower."

Clients can make appointments at The Beauty Crew by calling 312-731-2626 or emailing TheCrew@beautycrewchicago.com.
