CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man was shot while trying to get away from robbers on the Near West Side Thursday, police said.
At 9:26 p.m., the man and two other people were walking on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of West Carroll Avenue when two people walked up to them and said they were robbing the three, police said.
The 27-year-old tried to run away and one of the thieves shot at him, hitting the man in his left forearm and left thigh, police said. The thieves took money and jewelry from the victims and then ran away.
The 27-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.
No one was in custody.
