16 Shot, Including 4-Year-Old Boy, In Chicago Since Friday Morning

CHICAGO — Three people died and 13 others were wounded in shootings citywide since Friday morning.

A 4-year-old boy was shot and his mother was killed in a Friday evening "ambush" in Austin. A 19-year-old man was also wounded.

A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a Chicago Lawn shooting Friday night.

A shooting in Roseland Friday morning left a 23-year-old man dead.

In non-fatal incidents:

• At 3:44 a.m. Saturday in Auburn Gresham, a 26-year-old man was shot multiple times in his leg while in the 1500 block of West 79th Street. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

• At 3:08 a.m. in Austin, a 23-year-old man was shot in his shoulder while walking in the 5000 block of West Madison Street. He walked into Stroger Hospital in good condition.

• At 11:56 p.m. on the Near West Side, a 16-year-old boy was shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of West Jackson Boulevard. Two gunmen fired at him and shot him in his legs. He was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition.

• At 8:59 p.m. in Roseland, two men were shot in a drive-by in the 10800 block of South Normal Avenue. A 20-year-old man was shot in his body while an 18-year-old man was shot in his right leg and left arm. Both were taken to Christ. The shots were fired from a dark-colored sedan.

• Two men, 89 and 32, were shot in the 4200 block of West Cermak Road at 6:37 p.m. in North Lawndale. The older man was sitting in front of a business when a gray van approached and someone inside shot at another person who fled.

The 89-year-old man was grazed in his arm and refused to be taken to a hospital. Later on, a 32-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the foot.

• At about 12:07 p.m. in North Lawndale, two 24-year-old men were shot on a sidewalk in the 1500 block of South St. Louis Avenue. The two were standing when an SUV approached and multiple got out and fired at them before fleeing in the vehicle.

One victim was shot in his arm and leg, while the other is in critical condition after being shot in his body. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
