HYDE PARK — With at least five new restaurants opening soon in Hyde Park, the University of Chicago and local aldermen are hosting a hiring fair Tuesday for people who want to work at one.
Representatives from at least 10 neighborhood restaurants and grocery stores will meet with potential employees from noon-4 p.m. Tuesday at Harper Court, 5235 S. Harper Court, in the 11th Floor conference center.
New restaurants including Aloha Poke Co., Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales and Pizzeria Da Nella will join established businesses including the Promontory and Treasure Island grocery store at the hiring fair.
Job applicants can get two hours of free parking in the Harper Court parking garage for the event.
A variety of skill levels are in demand for cashier posts, front and back of house restaurant positions, administrative jobs and management positions.
