CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man was hit by a van and killed while trying to cross the street in Little Village on Saturday night, police said.
At 11:28 p.m., the man was in the 3900 block of West 28th Street when he tried to walk across the road from between two cars, police said. A cargo van hit the man.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the van, 49-year-old Soriano Marco, of the 2700 block of South Keeler, was cited for not having a valid driver's license, negligent driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian, police said. He was scheduled to appear in traffic court on Aug. 14.
A parked Chevy Malibu and Mercedes Benz were damaged during the incident, police said.
