Mexican Cocina Meets American Diner At Soon-To-Open Six Corners Spot

PORTAGE PARK — A family-owned Mexican-American hybrid restaurant is preparing to open a storefront in the Six Corners Shopping District "within the next few weeks," its owners said.

El Mariachi de Los Compadres, 4908 W. Irving Park Road, has completed an interior renovation and is awaiting its restaurant license, according to co-owner Veronica Gonzalez.

Its brightly-colored paint scheme was designed to evoke a uniquely Mexican and mariachi flavor, she said.

The restaurant will serve authentic Mexican dishes alongside "American breakfasts," Gonzalez said.
