WEST LOOP — A group of five teens or men with guns robbed two different people on the same morning last week on the Near West Side, police said.

In the two incidents, which happened within a few blocks of Union Park July 13, the victims were approached by the five teens or men on foot, before one of the men displayed a handgun and robbed them of their belongings, police said in a community alert Thursday.

The first victim was robbed at 5:32 a.m. July 13 in the 1500 block of West Warren Boulevard and the second victim was robbed at 5:40 a.m. in the 100 block of North Paulina Street.

The offenders were described as five black teens or men ages 15-20 years old. One of the boys or men was wearing "multi-color pajama-looking pants," and was between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-tall and 140-160 pounds. Another man, between 20-24 years old and 6-foot-tall, was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants, police said.

Anyone with any information should contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8382, and reference cases JA-345859 and JA-345895.

Union Park is home to the Pitchfork Music Festival, which started last Friday and ended Sunday.
