WEST LOOP — A prominent West Loop developer will pitch plans for a 19-story hotel tower near McDonald's new corporate headquarters at a meeting Tuesday.
Developers will discuss the 113 N. May St. project at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Catalyst Ranch, 656 W. Randolph St., in the West Loop. If approved, the new hotel would join a long list of existing and approved hotel projects in the booming neighborhood.
Under plans, the hotel would top out at 199 feet and would include retail space on the ground floor and at least 41 park spaces, according to the zoning application. Eckenhoff Saunders Architects is expected to design the project.
At a Crain's Real Estate Forum in September 2016, Sterling Bay Principal Andy Gloor said the 200-room extended stay hotel project would likely be operated by Hyatt.
The site at May and Washington streets is currently a two-story building that was part of the former Harpo Studios campus.
The developer is requesting a zoning change, according to city records.
Sterling Bay is developing several other high-profile projects in the neighborhood, including the McDonald's headquarters on Randolph Street, the 12-story McDonald's "Vendor Village" at Lake and Carpenter streets and Fulton West, a nine-story office and parking development in Fulton Market.
