Near West Side, Little Village Shootings Wound 2 People Since Thursday

CHICAGO — Two people have been wounded in shootings on the Near West Side and Little Village since Thursday, police said.

• At 10:50 p.m. Thursday, a 16-year-old boy was walking into a home in the 200 block of South Maplewood Avenue when several people in a car driving by fired shots at him, police said.

The boy was hit in his head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• At 5:08 p.m., a 41-year-old man was standing outside in the 2900 block of West 25th Place when someone in a red SUV fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his lower left leg and he took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. His condition was not immediately available.

The man is a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
