Check Out This Mesmerizing Time-Lapse Video Of Chicago

By Tanveer Ali | July 12, 2017 12:32pm

CHICAGO — Chicago is mesmerizing at night, especially in this video that compiles five years of time-lapse videos into four minutes.

Entitled "Windy City Nights III," the video is part of the larger "Chicago Timelapse Project" by photographer Max Wilson. The new video strings together 60 clips taken across the city over the past five years.

Wilson calls the scenes in the video "some of my most memorable shots."

Besides lugging equipment around, Wilson said "one of the biggest challenges is getting access to some of the locations."

Once he gets permission to capture views that he says an "average Chicagoan has never seen before" he shoots about an hour of video that is condensed into five seconds.

Shots in the new video were taken from the top of what is now the Robey hotel in Wicker Park, in front of Millennium Park's Cloud Gate and in between the flying buttresses of Tribune Tower.

"Those are the views that I love getting," Wilson said. "People love Tribune Tower but looking through the crown at the city, that's spectacular."
