Poetry Block Party Offers Free Books, Poetry Readings And Live Music

CHICAGO — The second-ever Poetry Block Party will celebrate music, art and community in Pilsen this July.

Attendees will be able to go to writing workshops, play games, dance, listen to poetry readings and live music and more. Free books and journals will also be available, and poets Eve Ewing and Nate Marshall will be among the performers.

More than 200 people have said they plan to attend the event on the block party's Facebook page. It is sponsored by the Poetry Foundation.

The event is 2-9 p.m. July 29 at 19th Street and Wolcott Avenue.
