NORWOOD PARK — Norwood Wine & Spirits marked its official opening in late May, but it started fueling its neighbors' parties long before that.

The store, now anchoring the strip mall at 6056 N. Northwest Highway, provided all the wine for an official after party for the Northwest Side Irish Parade in March, according to Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce director Alyssa Triptow.

"They have already been a great community partner," Triptow wrote in an email. "I believe they chose the perfect location in Norwood Park, and I’m positive that our community will support this new and equally supportive community business."

From a 2,000-square-foot storefront, Norwood Wine & Liquors boasts more than 350 craft beers, including from nearby brewers like Alarmist, Begyle, Off Color and Half Acre.

Owner Nick Patel already operates three other liquor stores around the city, including one in Gladstone Park near the intersection of Milwaukee and Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to Sunny Patel, Nick Patel's cousin and a store employee.

With a relative dearth of other liquor stores in the area, the owners saw Norwood Park as the perfect target for an expansion, Sunny Patel said.

"The neighborhood has been great so far," Sunny said. "I think people have been pretty happy to have us here."
