UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — A 15-year-old has been charged in three separate robberies that all took place far from the UIC police headquarters.

Chicago Police said Thursday that the teen was charged with two felony counts of robbery with a firearm and one count of aggravated robbery.

The three robberies occurred in the 1300 and 1400 blocks of South Morgan Street. The police station is on the corner of Maxwell and Morgan in the 1300 block of South Morgan.

University of Illinois at Chicago police chief Kevin Booker said in an email to the UIC community that the teen was identified as the person who approached a man at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday after the man had just parked his car near 1410 S. Morgan St. The teen allegedly pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the man and demanded his money and cell phone.

The victim complied and the attacker fled "westbound on foot and jumped over a fence into a nearby housing complex," a police alert about the incident said. The complex was not identified.

The other two incidents occurred in the 1300 block of South Morgan:

• at 8:50 p.m. Monday, when a woman, 25, was walking and "a male placed a hard object against her head and demanded property";

• and at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, when a 21-year-old man was approached by the teen, who showed a handgun and demanded money, police said.

The victims both complied and the teen fled, police said.

He was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.
