Free Tomato Plants, Art Sale At Hyde Park Art Center On 'Super Sunday'

HYDE PARK — It’s “Super Sunday” at the Hyde Park Art Center this week with free tomatoes, an art sale and lots of artist talks and open studios.

Sunday is one of the biggest days in spring for the art center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave., with a day full of activities from 1-5 p.m.

The annual exchange of tomato plants for poems lead by the General Economy Exquisite Exchange kicks off at 1 p.m. offering orange zebra heirloom, Jaume plum and six other varieties.

The art sale offering prints, jewelry, ceramics and more that benefits the art center also opens at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m. Corinna Button will lead an tour of her new exhibit before a performance by the South and West side slam poetry group Black Sheep.

There are also zine-making workshops, art projects to help build and more performances, as well as open studios with artists in residence.
