NEAR WEST SIDE — Chicago Police will be on the lookout for drunken drivers in the Near West Police District this weekend.

CPD officers are conducting a DUI strike force patrol on the Near West Police District from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday in the Near West District neighborhoods.

The 12th Police District includes parts of the West Loop, Near West Side, Pilsen, Little Italy, University Village, Greektown, Medical District, West Town, Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, East Village and Noble Square.

During the patrol, police will saturate a predesignated area with roving police officers that monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations.
