LINCOLN SQUARE — Welles Park is halfway to its $30,000 fundraising goal for a new one-acre NaturePlace oasis, and neighbors could push the effort over the top without contributing a single dollar.

The park is in the running for a $20,000 "Meet Me at the Park" grant from the National Recreation and Park Association — it just needs votes to earn the cash.

To support Welles Park, visit the Meet Me at the Park website and cast up to 15 votes per day, through April 30, for the Lincoln Square park. The same number of daily votes, through the end of April, can also be cast via phone: Text the code "welles" to 35350 (messages and data rates may apply).

The Welles Park Advisory Council is planning to convert a former playground into the NaturePlace — a one-acre wild space "full of hidden nooks ... and buzzing wildlife" near the intersection of Montrose and Western avenues.
