BUCKTOWN —  After more than 10 years, Radiance Fine Jewelry is closing its doors as soon as it can sell all of its inventory, the shop's owner said.

"I just felt that the retail operation was not going in the direction I wanted it to be going in," owner and jewelry designer Rebecca Dohe said Thursday.

"I still have so many other opportunities," she said, adding "it was a good time to close and explore them."

Located at 2139 N. Damen Ave., Radiance Fine Jewelry opened in 2006.

The shop — which specializes in bridal jewelry as well as repairs —announced the closing in an email to customers on Wednesday.

Dohe said a "pre-sale" with sneak previews of her entire inventory runs from Friday through Monday and everything will be up to 70 percent off starting on Tuesday.

Dohe said the sale will end when she runs out of merchandise.

"Our goal is to sell all of our existing inventory," she said.

When asked what she will miss most about running Radiance Fine Jewelry, Dohe said she liked helping frustrated clients.

"I really enjoy when a customer comes and has been to several stores and can't find what they are looking for, or can't find a jeweler to repair their piece, and we can," Dohe said. "That is immensely gratifying."

With muted purple walls, candy bowls on the counter, and a doorbell required to gain entry, the 1,500-square-foot shop is at the northernmost edge of Bucktown near the Kennedy expressway.

Our Urban Times  first reported the closing on Wednesday.
