WEST LOOP — A new sandwich shop and day bar by the owners of Dusek's and Moneygun is now open at Jefferson and Van Buren.

Called The Ruin Daily, the new 2,000-square foot restaurant at 328 S. Jefferson St. serves up breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, cocktails and after-work eats from dawn to dusk. The new shop, which opened Tuesday, is close to Union Station, a few blocks from the Blue Line's Clinton "L" stop, and right around the corner from Lou Mitchell's.

Chef Gabino “Bino” Ottoman helms The Ruin Daily, which serves a rotating selection of 10 sandwiches made with housemade deli meats during lunchtime, a selection of slaws and sides, and shared plates after work.

The menu includes:

• Bino’s smoked turkey sandwich with egg and maple butter on an English muffin.

• Shaved ham and cheese with Tasso ham, white cheddar, shredded lettuce, sliced pickles and rosemary truffle Dijonnaise on an Italian baguette.

• Buffalo Blue Cauliflower with roasted buffalo cauliflower, blue cheese dressing, shredded lettuce and celery on a sesame challah bun.

The shop also offers pastries by James Beard award-winning chef Mindy Segal, a cocktail program by Dylan Stewart and a full coffee bar stocked with Fulton Market's Metric Coffee by Revival's coffee programming manager Eric Turner.

The full menu is here.

Located at Jefferson and Van Buren, the restaurant is named after Martin Van Buren, the eighth President of the United States who was blamed for the economic depression in 1837 and was often referred to as "Marty Van Ruin."

The Ruin Daily is open Monday-Friday at 7 a.m., and like many restaurants near the Loop, closing hours will vary.

In addition to Dusek's, Thalia Hall, Saint Lou's Assembly and Moneygun, owners 16" On Center also operate The Empty Bottle, Longman & Eagle, Revival Food Hall and other well-known spots.
