LITTLE ITALY — The owner of a popular ice cream shop in Bridgeport plans to open a second location in Little Italy this month.

Scoops Ice Cream will open a new ice cream shop at 1151 W. Taylor St. at the end of March, owner Paul Impallaria said.

In addition to ice cream cones, the shop will serve up old-fashioned shakes, ice cream cakes and homemade cannoli.

The Taylor Street storefront previously housed two other frozen treat shops, Christie's Dairy Delights, which closed in summer 2016, and Yogen Früz.

Impallaria said the family-owned shop known for its hand-dipped cones will be a great fit in Little Italy.

"There are a lot of families in Little Italy and college students who like ice cream too," he said.

Impallaria opened the original Scoops at 608 W. 31st St. in Bridgeport 12 years ago. He also owns Italian restaurant Mangia Fresca next to the Halsted Orange Line "L" stop at 2556 S. Archer Ave.
