IRVING PARK — A 68-year-old man was beaten and robbed in Irving Park early Saturday, according to police.

Around 5:50 a.m., the man was walking in the 3600 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue when someone grabbed him from behind and knocked him to the ground, police said.

The attacker then punched the man in his face and his body before stealing the man's cell phone, headphones and wallet and running off, according to police.

The man was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where he was treated for a laceration on top of his head, as well as redness and swelling to his face.

Police could not provide his condition, saying only that he was listed as "stable."

The man was unable to provide a description of his attacker.

No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.
