EDGEWATER — Chicagoan have a new way to chill with Sue the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Cans of Iowa-based Toppling Goliath Brewing Co.'s PseudoSue pale ale beer — a boozy homage to Chicago's favorite 67 million-year-old museum specimen — are now available in a limited run on some shelves throughout the city.

Though the beer has been around for several years in its home state, its purple and green depiction of Sue on its label eventually caught the attention of the Field Museum and in late 2016, a partnership between the two were formed to bring the pale ale to Illinois.

Since Jan. 25, the Field Museum has been selling glasses by the pint in the museum's bistro and bottles in its main store to take home.

Toppling Goliath has also partnered with Breakthru Beverage Illinois to distribute PseudoSue and several other brands throughout the city, like the Whole Foods in Edgewater.

The company also said it plans to brew a beer in collaboration with the museum.

“We’re proud and very excited to show our appreciation for the great work The Field Museum does," Clark Lewey, Toppling Goliath president said. "We’re looking forward to brewing up history with them, now and in the future.”

Those interested in beer and science can also check out The Backroom this weekend — the Field Museum's pop-up bar at the Chicago Athletic Association that includes a mix of artifacts and cocktails.

The beer is not the first to come out of the natural history museum. Cabinet of Curiousities, a White IPA, was brewed in collaboration with Two Brothers Brewing in Warrenville starting in 2014.

Tooth & Claw, a dry hop lager, was served up at the Field through a partnership with Off Color Brewing in Logan Square in 2013.
