Little Village SWAT Standoff Ends With 1 Dead, Man In Custody

CHICAGO — One man is in custody and another was found dead after a standoff with a SWAT team Monday morning in Little Village, police said.

About 7:45 a.m., officers were called to the 3400 block of West 23rd Street for a "domestic disturbance" between two men, police said.

There was a standoff until 12:24 p.m. Officers were able to get inside the home, where they found a 68-year-old man dead.

Juan Estrada, of the same block where he was killed, was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man had been shot in his head, police said, and a gun was found. A 37-year-old man was taken into custody.
